Capacity as a state
Clear, connected, energized, proud, or safe-enough moments are not the absence of a pattern. They are part of the pattern.
Capacity is the felt state of having enough room to choose, connect, rest, or act without being completely run by urgency, collapse, or shame. It can be quiet and ordinary.
- more choice before reacting
- a little more access to humor, connection, or curiosity
- energy that feels usable rather than frantic
- 'I can do one thing'
- 'I do not have to solve everything right now'
- interest in tending something, reaching out, or resting
Capacity often shows up as more options, not as a dramatic emotional high. Tracking it helps distinguish grounded energy from activation, connectedness from craving, and real rest from collapse.
- requiring the moment to be perfect before it counts
- treating a good day as proof you should always feel this way
- pushing beyond capacity because you finally have some
- notice what made the state possible
- protect a small part of it, like sleep, food, quiet, or movement
- use the energy gently instead of spending all of it
Use the concept as a doorway into one small practice.
